My Creative Journey

Growing up in a small town in Germany, I was taught to knit and crochet in school, but I must admit I was not very good at it at this time. Practice makes perfect!

In High School I took art classes and learned about architecture, famous painters, different styles and mediums to create art. This led me to fall in love with colored pencils and watercolors that I use in my journaling and sometimes in my wood crafting and sign making.

Later in life, after we moved to the States, cross stitching was my next passion, then took a quilting class which helped me create a few quilts.

As you can tell, making things has always been part of my life.

When Whimsically Knotted was first formed, my daughter and I worked as a team on a hobby basis making beanies, messy buns, scarves, shawls and lap blankets, which we sold and shared with others. Then as life changed, so did Whimsically Knotted. After I lost my job in 2020 due to Covid, I found myself at home full time (more about that later). Like so many others, it was time to pivot.

This gave me the opportunity to start my own creative business (which was a scary thought, what was I thinking, could I really do this) but it would allow me to stay home with my disabled veteran husband and take him to all his appointments. It was at this time that God laid on my heart to share His love with others through creating and teaching and so I started going live on Facebook three times a week. (Be sure to click the link to follow me there too)!

This is how Whimsically Knotted transformed from a hobby making crocheted and knitted items to a small creative business creating wood signs, door hangers, tags, home décor, tiered tray pieces and shelf sitters. All my creations are available for sale and can be customized.
